Dear Fr. Hopkins,
As we prepare for the Eucharistic Congress of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, in particular for the youth track of the Congress we have focused our efforts on the broader context of evangelization. Rather than simply promote the Congress as an event to attend, we have instead focused on personally reaching out to invite people to Church, including attendance at the Eucharistic Congress.
In our recent meeting we discussed how a group of young people called Youth for the Third Millennium (YTM) might be able to assist in this effort. The goals of YTM seem to dove tail with our evangelization efforts very closely. YTM's plan to promote the Eucharistic Congress through door to door visits in neighborhoods, as well as periods of Eucharistic adoration in the Catholic high schools seem very beneficial.
I certainly appreciate you and YTM's interest in and commitment to the Eucharistic Congress. I believe they can go a long way in the work of evangelization in the Church, as well as help invite many people to attend the Eucharistic Congress.  While parishes and schools are involved in a great many activities, particularly at this time of year, I am sure that those who are able will give serious discernment to taking
advantage of the opportunities provided by YTM.
Thank you again for your generosity and commitment. In a special way
I pray that the young people involved in this work might grow in faith themselves, bearing great fruit in the work of evangelization.

Sincerely,

Reverend K. Robert Smoot
Director of Youth Ministry
